MEET ME AT THE CENTER OF THE EARTH
March 9-July 11, 2011
Seattle Art Museum
Seattle, Washington
Meet me at the Center of the Earth has made its way to the Pacific Northwest and into the galleries of the Seattle Art Museum (SAM).
“Nick Cave: Meet Me at the Center of the Earth is an invitation by the artist to break free from the confines of our daily life and travel to a place in which imagination is unencumbered,” said SAM’s Pamela McClusky, Curator of African and Oceanic Art. “Nick Cave is an extraordinary artist whose work is a true confluence of art, movement and sound that is impossible to resist.”
SAM's galleries are filled with more than 50 Soundsuits occupying more space than the museum has ever given to a contemporary artist. The exhibition premieres several new works as well as our first exhibition-based shopping experience. SoundSuitShop|SAM occupies the last gallery of the exhibition and offers exciting new products—including limited-edition leggings, scarves and tops, as well as coloring books, temporary tattoos, imagicubes and punching bags all soon to be available on soundsuitshop.com.
